Service · Acoustic insulation

Acoustic systems that hit STC/IIC the first time.

Reliable Partners. Proven systems. Built on trust.

R-Value Insulation Co is an Auckland-based acoustic insulation contractor for tier-one main builders on commercial, multi-unit, hotel, and aged-care sites. Acoustic install is the trade where small errors cost the certifier sign-off and the main builder a week of remediation. Studs not packed properly, a missed batt above the ceiling, a service penetration without a fire stop: every one of those is a problem you only see on test day.

We treat acoustic install as a quality-first discipline. Materials specified to suit the assembly, install sequenced to suit your programme, QA photos taken at the right stage so the certifier can sign without coming back.

Common questions

Questions builders and specifiers ask us.

  • What is the difference between STC and IIC ratings?

STC (Sound Transmission Class) measures airborne sound through walls and floors, such as voices and TV. IIC (Impact Insulation Class) measures impact sound through floors, such as footfall. Intertenancy assemblies usually have to hit both, and they are achieved with different details.

  • Why do intertenancy walls fail acoustic testing?

The usual causes are studs not packed correctly, a batt missed above the ceiling line, or a service penetration left without an acoustic or fire seal. These are invisible once linings are up, which is why we photograph the QA at the right stage so the certifier can sign without a return visit.

  • Are you an Autex Quiet Space installer?

Yes. We install Autex Quiet Space polyester acoustic batts and ceiling and wall panels, along with Kingspan and Asona systems, for office, education, hotel, hospitality and aged-care projects.

  • Can you hit the acoustic ratings in the specification?

Yes. We install the system the acoustic engineer specified, in the sequence your programme needs, with QA evidence captured at each stage so the tested performance is what gets built.

  • Do you install acoustic panels in finished spaces, around live ceiling services?

Yes. Finishing-stage acoustic install is core work for us: Autex Quiet Space panels and rafts and Asona fabric-wrapped panels fitted late in the programme, dressed cleanly around finished plasterboard, ceiling grid and live mechanical services without marking adjoining trades.

  • Do you install swimming pool, auditorium and reverberation-control acoustic systems?

Yes. We install Asona Pool Panels and acoustic systems for swimming pools, auditoria, function rooms, atria and other reverberant spaces where sound control is the whole purpose of the room, to the acoustic engineer's specification.

  • Do you install Asona Fab Wall fabric-wrapped acoustic panels?

Yes. Asona Fab Wall is one of our specialist finishing systems for offices, auditoria and hospitality, where the fabric finish has to look perfect as well as perform acoustically.
